The Audiobook Challenge is hosted by Hot Listens and Caffeinated Reviewer every year for the past 6 years! This challenge runs from the 1st day of January until December 31st, and you can join whenever you want to.
The goal is to find a new love for audiobooks or to beat yourself by reading more audios in 2018 than you did in 2017.
Any genres count, and because of this format’s increasing popularity during the past years, almost any book is also being adapted into the audio format (CD, MP3, etc.) for people to consume. There are many services such as Audible, Hoopla, Libribox, and Overdrive. There is more information about places where you can get paid and free audiobooks in the Sign Up Post, as well as the official rules and all of the Achievement Levels.
There will be two updates and Giveaways during the year: the first one will be posted on June 30th, 2018, and the second on December 15th, 2018. Anybody can participate, not only bloggers. As long as you have some platform where you can track your progress, you can sign up for this challenge!
I usually love to listen to audiobooks, but also read the written text at the same time. During commutes and rides to school, I also enjoy listening to audiobooks. I’ve listened to many this year, but in 2018 I’d like to be able to keep proper track of it and write reviews on the audio versions. This is why I’m joining Caffeinated Reviewer and Hot Listens this coming year!
Some audiobooks I plan on listening to while reading the printed text at the same time are:
1-Charlie and the Chocolate Factory
2-Gemina by Jay Kristoff and Amie Kauffman
3-The Harry Potter audiobooks, alternating between narrator Jim Dale and Stephen Fry to find out who I prefer (!!)
4-Without Merit by Colleen Hoover because I’ve read and hated her most controversial book, but I still want to try out something else by her.
5-Cress by Marissa Meyer narrated by Rebecca Soler since I listened to Scarlet and LOVED it!
I don’t want to put pressure on me this year to binge-listen tons of audiobooks, I just want to have an incentive to pick up more of them. So I will put the bar low (to my personal standards) and say that the Achievement Level I aim to reach in 2018 is “Stenographer (can listen while multi-tasking)”, which I absolutely CANNOT do because I get lost and totally distracted. But since it covers the ranges of 10-15 audiobooks, that’s the one I’m choosing!
Do you listen to audiobooks? Which ones would you love to listen to in 2018? What are your favorite audiobook recommendations? Let me know!
